- Inspect and test drive it to find anything that need fixing.
- Repair blemishes, etc.
- Check fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.
- Clean thoroughly. Use products to make it shine inside and out. Don’t forget the wheels and the engine compartment!
- Take pictures with a nice background of the driver side, passenger side, front, back, the four diagonals, side view of the back seat, side view of the front seats, a back view of the dashboard, and the trunk.
- Determine tire condition, battery life, and oil & filter change.
- Anticipate questions such as: ownership and accident history, engine or transmission repairs, maintenance schedule, and financing options.
- Post on Craigslist with information: price, year, model, condition, and pictures. Include extra features in the vehicle.
- Put ‘For Sale’ sign with phone number in window of vehicle.
- Keep all paperwork handy for the sale of the vehicle.
- Print a sales receipt for you and the buyer to sign.
- Remove your license tag before the buyer drives off with the vehicle.
- In Arkansas, report sale and release of liability to Finance and Administration Office.
