WordPress Posts

  1. Select Add new post, and name the title ‘Blog.’ This post will be used to set up your Blog Index page.
  2. Notice that the permalink reflects your option selected in Settings/Permalinks.
  3. Add a new category called ‘All’ and any other categories that will appropriately identify your future blog posts.
    1. Suggestion: Think of categories as chapters in a book; and tags as book index labels.
    2. ‘All’ will be useful for creating an index of all your posts.
    3. The ‘uncategorized’ posts will be excluded from the index.
  4. Designate this empty post named ‘Blog’ as uncategorized to keep it hidden from the Index because it will already be used to show all the posts.
  5. Add ‘Tags’ to make your post more easily found in searches.
  6. Click ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ to save changes, or save as a draft.
  7. If you have not done so yet, open Settings/Writing (in the left column), and select ‘All’ for your default post category. Save changes.
  8. Open Settings/Reading, and select your preference to show your latest post in a blog index, your home page, or a post page as the Front page display of your web site. Front Page Display designates your blog index as your front page by default. If you want the front page to show a page or a particular post, then choose static page, and select the page or post to display when the main URL is called.
